SYOSSET, NY — The Town of Oyster Bay board is expected to sign off on a settlement with a developer Tuesday night that would resolve a lawsuit involving a department of public works facility in Syosset, according to a report.
Developers planned to build a mixed-use building with hundreds of townhouses and condos on the town's property at 150 Miller Place. But the proposal was met with opposition from neighbors. Additionally, the town told developers it was no longer feasible to move its facilities.
The developer sued last year accusing the town of breaching its contract by not paying rental fees on the property, and now the town plans to borrow more than $30 million to cancel the sale, officials told Newsday this week.
