Description

Press release from the Altadena Public Library: October 5, 2020 These months of living through a global pandemic have taught us many lessons, among them that our Altadena Libraries can adapt quickly and effectively to even the most bizarre of circumstances and that we miss face-to-face time with our community! After months of social distancing and successfully implementing curbside and virtual services, the Altadena Libraries are pleased to now offer expanded access to both library buildings for limited browsing, computer use, and pickups of holds as of October 5. Following months of hopeful statistics from LA County Public Health showing steady decline in daily COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles County, the Bob Lucas Memorial Library and the Community Room at the Main Library will be open for limited hours at 15% capacity to help meet needs for computer access and bring back the joy of browsing! While the main floor at the Main Library on Mariposa Street will still be closed to the public, the Community Room has been laid out to allow for socially distanced services. As of October 5, the following service hours are in effect: Main Library 600 E. Mariposa Street Altadena, California 91001 Community Room Hours (Limited browsing, computer use, holds pickup, printing) Tuesday – Saturday: 12:00pm – 5:00pm Sunday & Monday: Closed Curbside Pickup Hours Monday – Saturday: 11:00am – 12:00pm Tuesday & Wednesday: 5:00pm – 6:30pm Sunday: Closed Bob Lucas Memorial Library 2659 Lincoln Avenue Altadena, California 91001 Bob Lucas Branch Hours (Browsing, computer use, holds pickup, printing) Monday – Friday: 3:00 – 5:00pm Weekends: Closed Curbside Pickup Hours Monday – Friday: 11:00am – 1:00pm, 3:30 – 5:30pm Weekends: Closed Safety Protocols for Entry into the Altadena Libraries By entering the library buildings, patrons agree to: Wear a face covering at all times. Practice social distancing by maintaining at least 6 feet of space from others. Follow all staff direction and instruction during your entire visit. Not enter if you are feeling ill, experiencing any COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms. Not hold the Altadena Library District responsible for any exposure or future illness that could potentially occur. A Note on Passport Services: Our Passport Services office, which operates in the Main Library, has been moved from the main library floor to an office space downstairs, now accessible directly from the parking lot. As we facilitate the transition of office space and as the United States State Department continues to catch up with their backlog of over 1.5 million applications as of July 2020, Passport Services will remain closed until at least November 2, 2020. More details coming soon! This press release was produced by the Altadena Public Library. The views expressed are the author's own.
