Press release from the Altadena Public Library: November 16, 2020 In light of recent widespread increase of COVID-19, the Altadena Libraries are limiting access to the library buildings until mid-January and offering curbside services to protect our community and library staff from risk of infection. As of November 23, curbside pickup hours are as follows: Curbside Pickup at the Main Library takes place: Monday through Saturday 11:00am – 1:00pm 4:00-6:00pm Curbside Pickup at the Bob Lucas Branch takes place: Monday through Friday 10:00am – 1:00pm 3:00pm – 5:00pm How to Place an Order: Go into the Altadena Library online catalog at catalog.altadenalibrary.org to place holds on the items you wish to check out. To place a hold, sign into the catalog using your library card number and password/pin (last 4 digits of your phone number on file). Find the item you want to check out and click on the thumbnail or title to get to the item's page. On the item page, click the "Place a Hold" button at the top of the menu on the right. If you need assistance, call (626) 798-0833 anytime and library staff will assist you! When your holds become available, you will receive a notification prompting you to call the library and schedule your curbside appointment. Call (626) 798-0833 on Monday through Saturday, from 10:00am to 6:00pm to schedule your appointment. Library staff will work with you to schedule a 10-minute curbside pickup appointment at least one business day after your call. You will need to let library staff know the color and make/model of the vehicle in which you expect to be picking up your items. How to Pick Up Your Order: Curbside pickup at the Main Library takes place in the parking lot (600 E. Mariposa Street, Altadena). Parking lot entrance is on Santa Rosa Avenue. Park in the designated pickup spot marked with signs. Curbside pickup at the Bob Lucas Memorial Branch takes place in the parking lot (2659 Lincoln Avenue, Altadena). Enter the parking lot on either Ventura or Lincoln Avenue. Park in the designated pickup spot marked with a sign. Library staff will place your reserved materials on a table adjacent to your parking spot and step back to observe physical distancing protocol. Please wear a face covering or mask. You can then step out, pick up your package, and leave any materials you are returning as well. *Biking and walking pickups are welcome and must also make an appointment ahead of time following the same procedures as drive-in service. Safety Precautions: Any books and materials being returned are quarantined for 72 hours before being checked back in and made available for checkout. Library staff has been ordered to wear masks their entire shift and gloves while handling all books and materials. All community members participating in curbside pickup must wear a mask while interacting with library staff. Guidelines & Tips for Success: Visit the online Catalog to place your holds! You will be notified by phone before your appointment if any of the items you request are found to be unavailable. Curbside pickup orders are limited to 10 items per order per day, following the total borrowing limits outlined in our Borrowing Policy. 3D Printing Suspended… But Printing Services ARE Available! Our 3D printing service is suspended until further notice, but you can print regular, paper orders from home using our remote platform. Visit www.altadenalibrary.org/computers or call (626) 798-0833 to learn how to submit your documents and pay for a remote printing order online for curbside pickup.
