Luxury Car Crashes Into Tree, Catches Fire In Nassau; 2 Hurt

SYOSSET, NY — Two people were hurt when a luxury sedan crashed into a tree and burst into flames in Syosset. Around 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, the Syosset Volunteer Fire Department was called to Underhill Boulevard for a report of a crash and fire. Firefighters found a BMW sedan had smashed into a tree and was consumed in flames. The car's two occupants escaped the flaming vehicle. The driver and passenger were both taken to hospitals for injuries, officials said. Crews extinguished the car blaze as well as nearby brush that caught fire in a sump. The roadway was closed in both directions while crews worked the crash. The car was considered a total loss. Below are photos taken at the scene.
