Description

A lecture by Fr. Jordan Zajac, O.P. University of Virginia The Thomistic Institute at the University of Virginia presents a lecture by Fr. Jordan Zajac of Providence College titled "Macbeth and the Tragedy of Choice." Jefferson Hall, Hotel C | West Range of The Lawn Wednesday, Feb. 16 6:15pm This lecture is free and open to the public. About the speaker: Fr. Jordan Zajac was born and raised in the seaside city of New Bedford, Massachusetts, where he, his parents, and younger sister Christina were active parishioners at St. James Church. He graduated summa cum laude from Providence College, where he majored in English and minored in Political Science. Having fallen in love with the intellectual life he experienced at Providence, he went on to the University of Virginia for his Master’s degree in English. He then earned a doctorate from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, specializing in Shakespearean Drama. His dissertation examined the social significance of recreational eating and drinking on the English Renaissance stage. “The air of Dominican life feels right in my lungs: taking in the Word through prayer and study, then expressing Him through the common life and preaching.” The Thomistic Institute exists to promote Catholic truth in our contemporary world by strengthening the intellectual formation of Christians at universities, in the Church, and in the wider public square. The thought of St. Thomas Aquinas, the Universal Doctor of the Church, is our touchstone.  The TI is an academic institute of the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C.   You can find all of the Thomistic Institute lecture recordings on https://soundcloud.com/thomisticinstitute or through the Apple Podcast by searching "Thomsitic Institute."
