SARASOTA, FL — A 16-year-old girl faces multiple charges in the fatal shooting of another teen in Sarasota Sunday.
The girl was arrested in Tampa and has been charged with homicide and multiple counts of attempted homicide, Sarasota police said in a news release.
Authorities have not said if the teen was charged in juvenile or adult court. It is Patch's policy not to identify teens in the juvenile court system.
The arrest was made with assistance from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and the Tampa Police Department.
A second suspect, a 16-year-old boy from Bradenton, is being sought on the same charges for his involvement in the shooting, police said.
Three children — two 17-year-olds and an 8-year-old — were shot in the 2200 block of Palmadelia Ave. on Sunday. One of the 17-year-olds was killed in the shooting, while the other two victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sarasota Police Department at 941-263-6070.
