PLAINVIEW, NY — The Town of Oyster Bay recently honored Michael Polansky, of Plainview, for his years of service as president of the Greater Long Island Running Club (GLIRC). In partnership with the town, GLIRC hosts the Annual TOBAY Triathlon and Tri-Relay to raise money for local charities and initiatives. "Mike has always been a 'can do' person and has been the consummate team player," said Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino. "Recreation is a hallmark on Long Island in no small part to people like Mike. He has put his stamp on so many good things in our community and his legacy goes well beyond what he has built at GLIRC." An avid runner himself, Polansky co-founded GLIRC more than four decades ago, and served a noteworthy tenure as president bringing many popular recreational races to Long Island.
