Here are the top 3 stories today in Madison: The city clerk confirmed Tuesday that no primary election will be held next week in the City of Madison. The Feb. 15 primary election was canceled because none of the offices on the spring election ballot have enough candidates to require one. The general election will still take place on Apr. 5. (97 Seven Country WGLR)The Urban League of Greater Madison has announced plans to expand its CDL and solar installation training academies. The expansion will allow for the Urban League to train an additional 45 new CDL drivers over the next two years, compared to the current yearly average of two to four new drivers. The expansion is funded by a $250,000 grant from Ascendium Education Group. (WMSN Fox 47 Madison)The Madison City Council is considering hiring six new officers for the Madison Police Department in 2023. The process would be partially funded by a grant from the Department of Justice and would require a match from the City. The Finance Committee passed the resolution on Feb. 7, and the Public Safety and Review Committee will vote today, Feb. 9.
