MIDDLETOWN, CT — The Middletown Police Department has announced a partnership with River Valley Services for a new Crisis Intervention Team.
There are now two licensed clinical social workers stationed at the Middletown Police Department who will assist officers in the field as needed, according to officials.
"This is another example of how we are committed to the community we serve," officials wrote in a post on Facebook.
Middletown Police Chief Erik Costa told WTNH News 8 that the new team will help with de-escalation and determining if an issue is crime-related or a mental health crisis.
