NORTH BAY SHORE, NY — A 23-year-old man and four teenagers were arrested and charged Tuesday night in North Bay Shore after the stolen car they were in crashed into a marked police vehicle — and one displayed a gun, Suffolk County Police said. Danis Gomez, of Brentwood, along with a 17-year-old male and three 16-year-old males, were charged with second degree-criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said. Gomez and the four teenagers were in a stolen 2006 Nissan Sentra, police said, in a commercial parking lot located at 145 Candlewood Road, at 9:06 p.m., when the car backed into a parked 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe, occupied by a man, police said. The Nissan then drove away and one of its occupants of displayed a gun, police said. The Nissan then traveled eastbound on Candlewood Road, west of 5th Avenue, and veered into the westbound lane, crashing into the side of a marked police vehicle that was occupied by two police officers, police said. The occupants of the Nissan then fled the scene on foot and were apprehended by officers at about 9:20 p.m., police said. The two police officers were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released, police said. The Nissan, which had been reported stolen from Hempstead on January 21, 2022, was impounded, police said. Gomez and the four teenagers are being held at the Third Precinct and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday, police said.
