Press release from the City of Portland: February 8, 2022 The Council also voted 7-2 (Pelletier and Zarro opposed) to repeal the City's current mask mandate, which applies to all indoor public places. The repeal takes effect 10 days after Council action, which is February 17. Repealing this mask mandate does not preclude the Council from considering mask mandate proposals in the future.  The repeal of the citywide mask mandate does not prohibit businesses or organizations from continuing to impose their own mask requirements should they choose to do so.  To view the video of last night's meeting or view the agenda and backup material, please visit www.portlandmaine.gov/agendas.  The City Council's next meeting will be held on Monday, February 28 at 5:00 PM The Council has several upcoming workshops scheduled: Wednesday, February 9 at 5:00 PM to discuss ReCode Phase 2, Monday, February 14 at 5:00 PM to discuss Hazard Pay, and Thursday, February 24 at 5:00 PM to discuss the creation of a Department of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
