GREENVILLE, SC — A water main break at Rhett Street and North Markley Street near downtown Greenville has caused a sinkhole in Rhett Street on Wednesday, Greenville police said.
A photo posted to the Greenville Police Department's Facebook account shows the hole filled with water as authorities attempt to clear water and debris.
Rhett and Markley remain closed in the area, but Academy Street has reopened after initially being closed because of flooding, according to authorities.
