WARREN COUNTY, NJ — A family friend has started a fund drive for a couple injured on Sunday when a pickup truck lost control and careened into their house on Route 57 in Washington Township. Ryan Dunphy of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania started the "Kim and Tim Terry Recovery Fund" on Monday in hopes of raising $300,000, he wrote. More than $23,000 was raised by Tuesday evening. Dunphy wrote on Tuesday that his initial goal of $8,600 was changed to $300,000 after learning that the "family has been in touch with medical, construction, insurance and legal professionals and now have a better understanding of the multitude of expenses that lie ahead." After John Nunn's truck tore into the second floor bedroom at about 2:15 a.m., Kim Terry — a wife, grandmother and registered nurse — was seriously injured and her dog killed, Dunphy wrote. She was airlifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Tim Terry was in a different room, Dunphy said, and was able to call for help. "With the extent of the injuries to Mrs. Terry and the damage to their home, this is extremely serious and will take years to resolve," Dunphy explained. He said the couple will be need temporary accommodations until their home is rebuilt and Kim Terry could need caregiving support after she leaves the hospital. Dunphy received permission from the family to start the fundraiser, he said. They have been "consumed with medical care at the ICU [Intensive Care Unit]," and funds collected will be transferred directly to them. Nunn's passenger Tyler Balog, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene, Warren County Prosecutor James Pfeiffer told Patch in a phone interview on Monday. Pfeiffer had declined to name the couple in his interview with Patch. Nunn, 27, could face charges in what appears to be an "alcohol-involved" accident, Pfeiffer said. Investigators are fully reconstructing the scene, he added. Read more about the fundraiser here. Questions or comments about this story? Have a news tip? Contact me at: [email protected].
