Press release from the City of Hammond: February 8, 2022 Department: Hammond Marina Job Title: Marina Director Date Requested: February 3, 2022 Date Needed: ASAP Salary: $75,000.00 full time Job Qualifications: Ability to effectively supervise a workforce of employees and managers Public relations and marketing skills Skills in customer service and ability in dealing with customers and the general public Communication skills in report writing and public speaking Ability to initiate cost effective programs and initiatives Knowledge in basic bookkeeping and accounting Computer literacy required especially with harbor management software programs Demonstrated accomplishments in Port Authority Management Certified Marina Management Class Minimum of five (5) years experience in Port Authority of Harbor Management job/position Job Duties: Work with managers of Marina departments to insure efficient operation for the enjoyment of those utilizing the services of the Hammond Marina and Hammond Lakefront Park & Beach Establish training programs for boating safety and boat knowledge Provide close follow up on training effectiveness and delegated tasks Assist Financial Director in budget preparation and tracking revenues, expenses, IT projects and needs assessments Supervision of outside vendors working on Port Authority property Fleet management and service plan and implementation for Port Authority boats, vehicles and equipment Assist in planning and operation of the Ship Store, Fuel Dock, Security Staff, Lifeguards and Sail-A-Way Program Assist Harbormaster in coordinating Homeland Security Operations with the Hammond Port Authority Operations including the Hammond Marina Rules & Regulations and related compliance guidelines and enforcement Supervision of winter storage and boat service operations Help direct marketing efforts of the Hammond Marina and the Hammond Port Authority, assisting the Port Authority Director with brochures, boat shows, displays and advertising Monitor security responsibilities, reports and complaints Oversee Marina construction projects Review Marina related insurance claims Assist office staff with customer service Oversee hours in the Timeclock Plus System Supervise internal audits of seasonal slip holders, overnight revenues, personal watercraft permits, fines and winter storage Additional duties as assigned by the Port Authority Director Responsibilities: Coordinating all aspects of the Marina facilities. Responsible to the Port Authority Director and Finance Administrator and must be versatile in all aspects of Marina Operations. The Marina Director is a "problem solver" capable of close attention to details in matters of personnel, customer service, facility upkeep, facility operations, budget and emergencies Hiring will be done in accordance with Hammond City Ordinance #8620 as it pertains to the residency requirement.Position will be posted internally from February 3, 2022 thru February 9, 2022. If the position is not filled internally it will be held open for external applications an additional ten (10) days. The position will remain posted until filled or no more than 10 days.
