ALBANY, CA — Amid an uptick in cases of the coronavirus across the country, Alameda County reported that 14 Albany residents have tested positive for COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic. More than 1,200 Alameda County residents tested positive over a week-long period ending Saturday — the most recent day for which information was available as of Monday afternoon. Alameda County Public Health Department officials addressed the recent surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations last week and announced plans to pause business reopenings. Communities of color have been hit particularly hard by the pandemic, officials said. In order to continue opening, Alameda County must be able to demonstrate to the state health department that we are beating coronavirus.
