Here are the top three stories today in Jackson: Jackson's Presidential Hills neighborhood will soon receive $750,000 in American Rescue Plan funds to improve infrastructure. Residents of the neighborhood, who have experienced recent flooding and poor road conditions, are eager to see these improvements enacted. Hinds County Supervisor David Archie said changes could come in "perhaps 90 to 120 days," though steps like bidding and engineering assessments must be conducted before starting work. (WLBT)The Jackson City Council is expected to vote on a trash disposal proposal during today's 11:00 a.m. meeting. Jackson is currently under an emergency contract with Waste Management, scheduled to end on Mar. 31. The council is being asked to vote on a proposal to award Richard's Disposal a six-year contract; the issue had previously been removed from last weeks' agenda. (WLBT)The Jackson Police Department and the FBI are investigating a Tuesday night armed robbery at the Golden Star Beauty Supply. Witnesses reported seeing three men with covered faces entering the store with rifles; the suspects then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money from two registers.
