Description

Press release from the Wright County Government: February 9, 2022 Wright County Parks & Recreation has filled out almost all of its winter activities from its 2021-22 schedule. One of the few programs that still has openings – and they are very limited – is a free class to cut and make a buckthorn hiking stick. The event will be held from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at Robert Ney Regional Park in Maple Lake Township. Buckthorn is an invasive species that grows quickly when left unattended and can dominate other plant species and take over an ecosystem. Program participants will learn about invasive species, how to identify buckthorn shrubs and why it is important to remove them from the parks system. Participants will have the opportunity to select, cut and carve their hiking sticks during the program and have a permanent reminder of the event to take home. To register for the event, go the Parks & Recreation website at https://www.co.wright.mn.us/982/Programs This press release was produced by the Wright County Government.
