MAPLE GROVE, MN — A Maple Grove woman was sentenced Monday to serve more than 25 years in prison after she was convicted last year of shooting and killing her boyfriend. Stephanie Clark, 31, was found guilty Oct. 14 of intentional second-degree murder after a jury deliberated for about four hours. She was sentenced Monday to serve 306 months, or 25.5 years, in prison. Hennepin County prosecutors had sought a sentence of 30.5 years in prison. Clark was charged in March 2020 after police found the body of 30-year-old Don'Juan Tymone Butler in her apartment in the 6200 block of Magda Drive in Maple Grove. Police alleged Clark shot Butler in the chest seven to eight times with a double-barrel revolver, then shot him in the head with a second gun when the first ran out of bullets. Clark told police she shot Butler after he punched her during an argument that started earlier that day.
