LAKEWOOD, OH — Valentine's Day is nearly here and many single Ohioans are dreading another holiday alone. But fear not, because if you're looking to mingle, northern Ohio is the place to be. Three northern Ohio cities — Cleveland and suburban Lakewood and Euclid — were rated as three of the best places to meet your next partner, according to a new study. All three cities have a large percentage of residents who identify as single. In fact, 62 percent of Euclid residents currently identify as single, the highest suburban proportion in the nation. Lakewood was No. 3 nationally, with 58 percent of residents identifying as single. Among big cities, Cleveland ranked behind only Detroit in percentage of residents identifying as single, the study found. Using U.S. Census Bureau data, Solitaire Bliss — which operates a website for people who like to play the one-person card game — compiled the list of suburbs with the most singles, including breakdowns for the most single men, most single women and most divorced people. Overall, Ohio ranks 13th in the number of single residents and the two Greater Cleveland suburbs ranked in the top 10 for cities with the most singles. Here are the top 10 suburbs with the most singles: Euclid, Ohio (Cleveland): 62 percent single Hoboken, New Jersey (New York City): 58.7 percent Lakewood, Ohio (Cleveland) 58 percent Paradise, Nevada (Las Vegas): 58 percent Hackensack, New Jersey (New York City): 57.6 percent Cicero, Illinois (Chicago): 57.2 percent Hawthorne, California (Los Angeles): 57 percent Long Beach, California (Los Angeles): 56.9 percent Southfield, Michigan (Detroit): 56.1 percent Waltham, Massachusetts (Boston): 55.3 percent Several of those suburbs also got mention in rankings for the most single men and women, as well as in the percentage of people who are divorced. The big cities with the most singles are: Detroit: 70.8 percent single Cleveland: 68.7 percent Atlanta: 67.6 percent Baltimore: 66.9 percent Boston: 65.8 percent Milwaukee, 65.4 percent New Orleans, 64.8 percent Philadelphia, 63.2 percent Memphis, Tennessee, 62.9 percent Minneapolis: 62.7 percent The rankings are based on 2019 Census Bureau data that show the percentage of people ages 18-65 who are single in all 50 states, the 50 largest cities and 130 suburbs surrounding them.
