"Dances from the Heart" Returns to the Athenaeum

Emergence Dance Theatre presents the popular and romantic Dance Chicago program, Dances From the Heart, Saturday, Feb 12 at 8 p.m. Dances from the Heart showcases the most romantic works from Dance Chicago performers, featuring an amazing array of styles such as aerial, tap, urban fusion, jazz, contemporary, Irish, Flamenco, Comedy Dance, Hip-Hop and more. Companies on the program include Gus Legacy ®: GG Company (Jazz Dance), Visceral Studio Company (Contemporary Dance), Tre Dumas (Tap Dance), Trinity Irish Dancers (Irish hard shoe), Beyond Words (Kate Jablonski, Contemporary), Hromovytsia Ukrainian Dance Ensemble (Ukrainian Folk Dance), Sophia de Leon Sanchez (Flamenco), Comedy Dance Chicago (Sketch Dance Comedy) and Aerial Dance Chicago (Aerial Arts). This dance filled evening is a beautiful way to celebrate Valentine's weekend, romance and Chicago arts. The program, curated by Artistic Director John Schmitz, will take place at the Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave. Each year, Dance Chicago presents more than 250 performing groups and over 2,500 individual artists spanning a wide variety of genres. Dance Chicago has remained part of the fabric of Chicago's dance scene since its founding in 1994. Programming has been limited, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Emergence Dance Theatre is proud to be able to safely present Dances from the Heart for Dance Chicago's 27th year program. Tickets to Dances from the Heart are $39 regular adult, $29 senior (over 65) and students (any age) and $22 children (under 10), and are on sale now at athenaeumcenter.org by calling 312-820-6250.
