Description

Press release from Campbell Chamber of Commerce: February 7, 2022 On Saturday, March 19th, the Campbell Chamber Community Foundation will host the 54th annual Celebrate Campbell. This event honors the silent heroes of Campbell: individuals and businesses that contribute their time and talents to the community for the betterment of all. In 1968, the inaugural Citizen of the Year was chosen. Jeanette Watson served as the first female council member and first female mayor (1988) in the City of Campbell. She was instrumental in advocating and fundraising for the creation of the Campbell museum, championed moving the Ainsley House to its current location, and supported repurposing and restoring what is now the Campbell Heritage Theatre. She is also the author of The Orchard City, a book chronicling the history of Campbell. In 1977, the first Business of the Year, Kirkorian Enterprises, was selected and has been followed every year since with a company that gives back to Campbell in ways that benefit its residents. Since 2020, Celebrate Campbell has taken on a different format than the black tie evening gala attracting over 250 attendees. This year, our 54th anniversary event will again be live-streamed, with video being available to watch on both the Campbell Chamber and the Foundation websites. Honorees will accept their awards at a small in-person event at Orchard City Banquet Hall. honors the previous year's Citizen-of-the-Year and Business-of-the-Year, as well as our Ambassador and Volunteer-of-the-Year. Many local service organization volunteers are also recognized at this very special event. The Campbell Mayor, City Council, civil servants, community leaders, local politicians and more are in attendance. As well as honoring the previous year's Citizen-of-the-Year and Business-of-the-Year, the evening pays tribute to our Ambassador and Volunteer-of-the-Year and local service organization volunteers. We hope you will join us beginning at 6:30pm on Saturday, March 19th as we celebrate the community and acknowledge Campbell's outstanding individuals and businesses.
