Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today: As part of their new refugee program, the Phoenix school district has welcomed over 800 students. The Cartwright School Districts' Immigration/Refugee Scholar and Family Support Program is bringing in kids from refugee camps worldwide to try to better their education and right now, is seeing a significant increase in kids coming from Afghanistan. Students in the program are given access to district resources like any other kid, and they can utilize the district pantry, clothing closet, and medical clinic, according to Mandy Armstrong, an English language arts and social sciences teacher at Glenn L. Downs Social Sciences Academy. (AZ Family)A Phoenix-area restaurant was forced to shut down after most of its staff was poached by another restaurant. According to Matt Gorman, who owns Matty G's in Tempe, his general manager was hired by another restaurant and was offered a monetary incentive for each staff member she brought with her. Matt G's is currently hiring at all six locations in the Phoenix area. (Fox10)A cause has still not been determined for the explosion that destroyed a multi-million dollar home on Saturday. A neighbor's Ring camera caught the exact moment of the explosion at the house on 36th Street and Lincoln Drive. There were no injuries reported in the explosion.
