Narcotics SUV Damaged During Tuscaloosa Pursuit Tuesday Night

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A man is in custody after a brief police pursuit in Tuscaloosa Tuesday night resulted in damage to the suspect vehicle and a metro task force vehicle involved in the chase. Click here to subscribe to our free Tuscaloosa Daily newsletter and breaking news alerts Tuscaloosa Police Department spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor said officers first attempted a traffic stop in the 700 block of Skyland Boulevard at 9:37 p.m. The driver, refusing to stop, then led officers on a pursuit headed north on I-359, before turning off of 15th Street and driving around the area of Dinah Washington Avenue and back east toward Greensboro Avenue. The suspect was eventually stopped a little more than 10 minutes later when his vehicle hit police spike strips placed at Greensboro Avenue and 12th Street. Taylor said Michael Allen Jordan, 34, was then charged with possession of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and attempting to elude police. His bond was set at $10,000 for the felony drug charge and $5,000 each for resisting arrest and running from police. Also during the pursuit, a West Alabama Narcotics Task Force investigator crashed an unmarked Chevrolet Tahoe into an electric pole as he pulled around a patrol car on Dinah Washington Avenue near Central Elementary.
