Gas Leak Survey Technician Job Description As leaders in the New England utility industry, concentrating on quality and safety, we are seeking candidates to join our team who are problem solvers, take pride in public safety and are comfortable in a fast-paced work environment. Leak Survey Technician: responsible for checking gas meters and underground distribution gas lines for leak and corrosion. This includes visual inspection and ensuring all required paperwork is completed. Meter Inspections Technicians will be required to report to their respective work area on time at the start of each shift. While on site, the technician will be responsible for identifying any abnormal operating conditions along with accurately filling out all forms associated with the inspection visit (form may be electronic or paper). Must be in good physical shape to perform this role. These are daytime, full time positions and overtime may be required from time to time. Paid training will be provided by an Instructor. This position may require weekend work from time to time. Training/Starting pay $20/hour and based on performance opportunity for $21-$22/hour. Supervisors can earn between $24-$30/hour Physical/Other Requirements The ability to stand and walk for long periods of time on varying types of terrain, to bend and stoop, and to lift heavy items is essential Walking between 3 to 7 miles per day on varying types of terrain in all types of weather Once an indication of a leak is found, a 10-15 pound plunger bar is used to punch holes in the ground so that an instrument probe can be inserted into the ground to measure the concentration of natural gas as part of the investigation procedure. The plunger bar is similar to a fence post driver.
