Press release from Albany Unified School District:
December 4, 2020
Coding may be an essential skill for our childrens' generation. There's no doubt that computer science exercises students' analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. These skills are helpful throughout life. And in education, critical thinking skills are useful in all subjects. Familiarizing your children with coding can help them in all academic areas.
This year, Albany Unified School District and the Alameda Office of Education are strongly supporting the Virtual Week of Coding with fun activities for students of all ages. Anyone from anywhere can explore acoe.org/hourofcode to find curated activities and tutorials in zones designed for every level of learner, from preschool to advanced student coders. There are activities for a wide variety of interests, from creating dance parties to building COVID-19 transmission models, from data visualization to app development labs, and a Robot Zone for all ages.
