From the City of Albany: Posted 12/20/2019 - 5:00 PM CITY OF ALBANY ADVISORY BODIES TO THE CITY COUNCIL LOCAL APPOINTMENTS LIST 2019-2020 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Albany encourages residents to apply for the following positions on Advisory Bodies to the City Council. The City of Albany values community participation in City government and welcomes the opportunity for residents to serve on the City's Advisory Bodies to the City Council. In accordance with the City Charter, the term for all Appointees to Advisory Bodies is 2-years in length, with the term ending in December of even-numbered years, which coincides with the certification of the results of the General Municipal Election. Appointees may continue to serve for an interim period of up to 45 days after certification of the election until reappointed or replaced, whichever is sooner. In compliance with the requirements of the Maddy Act, Government Code Section 54970-54973, the following appointment list is posted on an annual basis by December 31st. at Albany City Hall, Albany Community Center, Albany Senior Center and the City's website. Each Council Member appoints one member, and in some cases the Council, as a whole, appoints an "At-Large" Member. Appointments to the Planning & Zoning Commission shall be ratified by the Council as a whole. The Albany Unified School District Board of Education is also responsible (chosen from applications submitted to the City) for a number of appointments to City Advisory Bodies to the City Council.
