DULUTH, GA — A gas station clerk in Duluth took control of a robbery situation in October by taking a gun from the robber, video from the incident shows. Police say Jalen Bridgewaters, 19, of Duluth, went into the Shell gas station at 3841 Satellite Blvd. on Oct. 21 and tried to rob the clerk. Surveillance footage, provided to Patch by the Gwinnett County Police Department, shows the masked suspect put the gun on the counter and under the protective partition, pointing it at the clerk. The clerk, identified by Fox Atlanta as Mir Ali, quickly took action, grabbing the gun. After a brief struggle, Ali came out with the gun. The video shows the suspect staying near the protective partition, having a verbal exchange with Ali. Bridgewaters demanded the gun back, threatening to come back and shoot him. Ali did not comply, and Bridgewaters began to plead. See the video below: "Yeah he asked give me the gun back and I'll leave. But I don't want to give him gun back because he might shoot me back or something. So, I just tried to keep my control of the gun and I just called the 911," Ali told Fox Atlanta. Bridgewaters left, police say, but police arrived moments later and took him into custody after a quick chase. Police say detectives connected Bridgewaters to six robberies in Gwinnett County. Three were on Oct. 6 and the other three were on Oct. 21. Also arrested were Emmanuel Craig, 22, of Norcross, and Nicholas Abreu, 18, also of Norcross, whom police say were a part of the robberies. Craig and Abreu were charged with two counts each of armed robbery. Bridgewaters was charged with multiple armed robbery counts, aggravated assault and false imprisonment.
