Description
DULUTH, GA — A Duluth building suffered structural damage when a car drove into it on Friday, according to a release from Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services.
Firefighters responded soon after noon on Friday to the InTown Suites Extended Stay at Steve Reynolds Boulevard NW and Club Drive NW. They found a car in the corner of the building.
Luckily, there was nobody in the room at the time of the crash.
Crews worked to evacuate the rooms directly above the damaged room, as the building suffered structural integrity damage in the crash. Specialists with the Technical Rescue Team worked to build temporary supports for the building.
"Firefighters paid very close attention to detail and completed the task in just under two hours," the release says.
The supports will be there until permanent repairs are made.
The driver denied having a medical emergency and had no medical complaint, the release says, so authorities don't know what caused him to hit the building.
