Learn about the creation of quality novel, cultivars that are disease resistant and producing high yields. The presentation will bring focus to the conservation of our four native Vanilla species and will discuss the Naples Botanical Garden’s program to raise these beautiful plants. A self-guided tour of the Garden following the presentation is included.

Dr. Chambers is a tropical fruit breeder whose primary focus is the development of cultivars that increase value to growers and enhance the consumer experience. He holds a B.S. in Genetics and Biotechnology from Brigham Young University, M.S. of Plant Pathology/Phytopathology from Cornell University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Florida, in Horticultural Science
Nick Ewy joined the Naples Botanical Garden in 2013 and currently serves as its Director of Collections with long experience in collecting and raising rare tropical plants. He holds a degree in botany and plant pathology from Michigan State University.
