Description
Celeste is a 2 year old Golden Retriever/ Black Lab mix in need of a new home.
Weighing in at around 55-60lbs, she is very people-centric, but sometimes a bit too much so. She knows basic commands, but her excitement tends to get in the way of following them very well. She’s also a fan of jumping on people to get her pets, which is our issue with small children in the home.
Celeste is very playful and does enjoy rough-housing with other dogs. She got along well with some foster dogs that we cared for - an American Staffordshire and her 3 puppies (particularly the smallest girl puppy), as well as an unknown large mix that was nursed back from an emaciated state - but she did exhibit some resource guarding and attention jealousy with each of them.
She has exposure to cats but hasn’t learned how to not bark at and/or chase them, so there hasn’t been much close contact.
Celeste does well with small children in some ways but not in others. She is very patient with the smacks and taps and tugs that come from a one year old learning to be gentle, and she is calm when pulling food out of their hand. But if she’s excited, she pays no attention to who she may bowl over when running through the house, and she has a tough time not being in the middle of absolutely everything.
Celeste has the potential to be a great family dog with the right continued training and guidance. She has had all of the basic vaccinations but is a little late on this year’s rabies vaccine. She’s also spayed and microchipped.
Minimal rehoming fee requested, but I primarily want to make sure she goes to a good home willing to work with her energy level.
