Zach Leary will be giving a discussion on psychedelics. Join us in this intimate setting with Zach Leary as he will discuss the fabric of the modern psychedelic revolution. In the last 15 years, psychedelic research has made more advances in the evolution of human potential and mental health than in the previous 50 years of psychedelic science. The rise in popularity of psychedelic use combined with the success of countless academic and scientific research studies that use psychedelics as tools for understanding mental health have opened the world to new uses for these medicines, while still holding roots in ancient mystical traditions. Zach’s unique view of this world began when he was a child surrounded by the first wave of psychedelic pioneers, including Timothy Leary, Ram Dass, John C Lilly, Terrence McKenna and others. A cultural legacy that helped to shape the late 20th Century was imprinted on Zack. In the 21st Century we, as a community, are faced with new challenges surrounding psychedelic use that are both revolutionary and fragile. Zach will discuss some of the vast history of psychedelic research while noting mistakes of the past and how we must be cautious stewards of the future. Zach will share his recommendations regarding how individuals who are new to psychedelics may go about using them for their own personal growth. Psychedelics are not a “magic pill” and will not suddenly cure those suffering from the myriad of human maladies, but they are powerful change-agents that when used correctly can jump start a new treatment paradigm for self inquiry and healing. The 21st Century psychedelic revolution truly embodies the concept of where science meets mysticism and Zach will bridge those gaps with humor, story telling and first hand accounts of being on the front lines of psychedelic therapy. Zach Leary is the host of the MAPS podcast, a long time psychedelic therapist, a psychedelic advocate, and a lineage holder of spiritually based psychedelic mysticism. He is also the author of the upcoming book to be published by SoundsTrue entitled “And Now The Work Begins - Psychedelics in the 21st Century and How to Use Them.” This event is free for all members registered through Giving Fuel on or before 01/31/2022.
