MICHIGAN — Michigan health officials reported more than 3,000 new cases of the coronavirus and over 170 more COVID-19 deaths Tuesday. Michigan added 3,082 new coronavirus cases Tuesday, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state to 466,485. The state also added 173 more COVID-19 deaths — 72 of which the state said were identified during a Vital Records review. Michigan's coronavirus death toll now stands at 11,705, according to the state. On Monday, Michigan reported 4,551 new coronavirus cases. The state also added 71 new COVID-19 deaths. Those totals were what had been reported since Saturday. Michigan officials reported Saturday that 284,731 people in the state had recovered from the coronavirus. According to data collected and provided by the World Health Organization, Michigan has reported some of the highest coronavirus numbers in the U.S., ranking among the nation's ten highest state in both categories. In the U.S., more than 18.5 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, according to the World Health Organization. Of those case, over 327,000 have resulted in death, while more than 10.8 million have ended in recovery. Over 78 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported worldwide, according to the World Health Organization. More than 1.7 million COVID-19 deaths have been reported across the globe. Nearly 55 million people have reportedly recovered from the coronavirus.
