Sugar Creek Winery Sugar Creek Winery will be hosting our first ever chili cook off! Join us for good food and entertainment! Alongside the chili cook off, we will be hosting wine tastings as well and music by Hippie Dream Duo. Rules for Chili cook off below:How to enter: Please pre-register on Eventbrite. No chilies will be accepted without proper registration. Enter your chili in the cook off below by buying a "Chili Cook" ticket at $10 per chili entry. (Only one entry per category) This will give you ONE chance at our first place prize. All Chili Cooks will need the following; Crock Pot, Ladle, Chili All non-cooks and other attendees will be welcome to hang out and taste every chili entry once long as supplies last. NO outside drinks allowed! Wine may be purchased at the bar. No outside alcohol is permitted by law. Email [email protected] for any questions. For all Chili Cooks -expect to receive an email 3 days before the competition with more details. Categorization of chilies is as follows:4-Legs: Contains meat such as beef or pork, which walks on four legs.2-Legs: Contains meat such as chicken or turkey, which walk on two legs.No Legs: Does not contain ANY meat or fowl. (Vegetarian)Rules:There are no cooking facilities available on site so entries much be received in a ready-to-judge form. We recommend a crock-pot as hot as possible. (160 degrees)No additional garnishes allowed.All chili cooks must arrive with their chili between 5:00 pm-6:30 pm.There are three judges per category. Each judge uses a 10 point scale and all chilies are judged blind. Criteria used to judge include: color, consistency, aroma, texture, heat/spice and flavor.The highest scoring chili from each category will be re-evaluated by all 9 judges for the position of “Best of Show” chili.Any ingredient you feel will enhance the flavor of your chili is allowed, provided it doesn’t disqualify you from the category chosen.This is not an International Chili Society sanctioned cook-off and is not affiliated with any other entity.Chili must reach 160 degrees Fahrenheit when you drop off and maintain temp of 140 degrees. Temperature checks will happen at 5:45pm, 6:30pm, and 7:00pm.Schedule:Arrival Time Starts: 5:00pmChili Judging: Begins at 5:30pmOfficial judge samples must be turned in no later than 6:30 pmChili available to the public tasters: 6:30pm-?
