DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Fourth of July is slated to look different this year due to the ongoing pandemic. Douglasville's fireworks and many other celebrations are cancelled, leaving residents to find ways to celebrate at home. But one thing we can count on is a scheduled holiday. Because July 4 falls on a Saturday, the Independence Day holiday is observed on Friday, July 3. Douglas County government offices will be closed, and other services will have schedule changes.Many services are already affected by the pandemic. Here are the openings and closings to know around the holiday: Douglasville government offices: Douglasville government offices are closed on Friday, July 3. See services available for residents online. Courts: Courts do not operate on July 3. See operating updates from the City of Douglasville Municipal Court. Community centers: The Ike Owings Community Center and Alice Hawthorne Community Center have reopened as of June 1, with limited hours. The Douglasville Welcome Center has also reopened. Libraries: All Douglas County libraries are closed on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4. Post offices: Closed on Saturday, July 4. Trash and recycling centers: The Douglas County Landfill (1730 County Services Road) will be closed on July 4. Residents can continue to find coronavirus-related service changes on the city's website.
