The SAEMS monthly luncheon meetings are held on the last Wednesday of every month (except when otherwise announced). Every SAEMS luncheon features a keynote speaker on issues important to local businesses and spotlights some of our many professional and non-profit members.
Meetings begin promptly at noon. After the meal, there is additional time to network prior to the featured speaker's presentation. The meeting concludes by 1:00 pm.
Your meeting fee not only covers your meal cost but funds SAEMS’ community involvement efforts as well as the SAEMS environmental student scholarships.
Please note we are asking all attendees to wear masks and social distance while eating. Please note that Arizona State Office Building has paid parking (first hour free). In addition you must check into the building prior to heading to Room 444 for the meeting.
This month topic is "Surprises I Learned as the Acting Deputy EPA Administrator" presented by Henry R Darwin. Henry has over 25+ years of service in government, with the last ten years in senior executive leadership at state and federal levels, Henry delivers an undeniably deep bench of state and federal environmental law and agency know-how. As the former Director of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) and as the Acting Deputy Administrator and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Henry is best known nation-wide for striking the right balance between economic development and environmental protection. Notably, Henry negotiated the largest environmental settlement in Arizona and was involved in many of the most important environmental issues, settlements, and cost recovery efforts as a government lawyer.
