Please come and participate in this engaging presentation, hosted by us in the comfortable environment of our flower shop on Broadway in downtown Kissimmee. We will spend the first hour or so going over a presentation that will help you get a basic understanding of your camera and what all the buttons and numbers mean. Then, we will have a question and answer session followed by a break. Once we are completed with the break we will head out to Lakefront Park in Kissimmee to put some practice to what you were taught during the presentation. It will help you get the shots you want and hope to attain. Whether that be in photographing your kids or grandkids, or those beautiful Florida Sunsets sunsets. In the latter part of 2016, I decided I would take my love of photography "on the road," and would combine it with my burgeoning love of hiking and back country camping. Bringing my two favorite pastimes together has provided me with some very unique and wonderful experiences. Being out in nature, with nothing but my camera as a companion at times, has helped me to hone my craft in ways I did not always expect. With every trip into the wilderness, I get to head home with some great photos and a handful of new skills to survive in the wild and capture even more excellent photos on future trips. It's great. I love it. As I have become more knowledgeable about trekking into the wild to photograph the beauty this great country has to offer, I find myself wanting to share the knowledge I gain with others. I really enjoy teaching people how things work. I also find great joy in sharing the excitement I experience seeing that next great horizon, or that next great vista, with like-minded folks. The desire to teach people how to capture better photos while also sharing adventures with folks has led me to create the photo workshops you see outlined on this page. My passion is to educate the amateur nature photographer. I want to see the novice gain more confidence with their camera, and to learn how to successfully capture the kinds of photos they want while out "in the wild." I find that many pro-photographers don't make great teachers: they communicate with too much jargon, and leave their learners more confused about how to work their camera than they were before coming to learn! I find that frustrating. I want to give the apprentice photographer an education they can use, without all the weird and overly-complicated technical speak I see so many of my peers using. That is my intention for these workshops. Now, I suppose you might want to know a little about me to know if I'm qualified to teach you about getting better photos. Well, let me fill you in on "me, me, me" (all my Matrix fans will have read that in Agent Smith's voice, I hope). I have been using a camera to photograph all sorts of subject matter for more than three decades. At 19, I bought a Canon EOS Series film camera, and have been busily capturing moments in time ever since. In 2008, I officially migrated to digital camera work, and have been working with Nikon cameras from that time on (though I can still work with you and your Canon, Sony, etc., cameras, no worries there). My primary editing software of choice is Lightroom, though I do sometimes work with Photoshop, too. I have traveled to and photographed more than a dozen of our National Parks, and am actively working to increase that number. My wife, Joelle, is my preferred photography assistant and ride-along pal, and will likely become your newest close friend, too, should you join us for an upcoming photo workshop. She is in charge of the hospitality and food (the food we provide, at least) for each adventure. Her smile and warmth light up any room she enters and she is...well, pretty funny in the woods...let's just say that. Should she see a deer, or a bear, or a fox, or well, just about any other animal out there, plan for tears. So...are you ready to go from confused and frustrated to confident and capable with your camera? Are you ready for the adventure of your year...maybe even of a lifetime? Sign up for a workshop today. I can't wait to meet you.
