The City of Covington is seeking a highly visible contributor to our downtown service delivery system through public outreach and fieldwork to improve, monitor, and maintain the downtown and neighborhood aesthetics of the city. Their work and attitude will be key to shaping public impressions of the entire City organization and the overall quality of the community. This individual must be self-motivated and capable of using independent and reliable judgement to identify maintenance issues around the city to either address themselves (such as graffiti removal, litter pickup, or abandoned grocery carts) or bring to the attention of another city employee or department. They must strive to be customer service oriented, as well as a respectful and tactful communicator with coworkers, businesses, and other agencies. Punctuality and reliability are critical to accomplish responsibilities completely and in a timely manner. Education and Experience: Minimum Criteria: One year's general work experience required in a maintenance or customer service role. Preferred Criteria: (In addition to Minimum Criteria) Previous experience dealing with the public, working with sanitation and health and safety agencies, or city government. Special Requirements: • Possession of a valid Washington State driver’s license and satisfactory results from a complete driving record check, in accordance with the city’s insurance authority’s standards. • Acceptable results from a nationwide criminal background check. • Proper documentation to fulfill the requirements of the Immigration and Nationality Act within three (3) days of employment is a condition of employment with the City of Covington. • Must be age 18 or over.
