DETROIT, MI — Two men have been charged with first-degree murder in addition to a slew of other felonies in connection with the drive-by shooting of a 7-year-old Detroit girl on Oct. 28, Wayne County prosecutors said Thursday.
Emmett Williams, Jr., 19, of Detroit, and Christion Mitchell-Childress, 22, of Southfield, are charged with first-degree murder, discharge of a firearm at a building causing death, discharge of a weapon from a motor vehicle causing death and three counts of felony firearms.
Detroit police were called to the 3900 block of Bedford in Detroit around 8:22 p.m. Oct. 28, prosecutors said, where they found the 7-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to the head. She was taken to a local hospital and died two days later, prosecutors said.
Williams was arraigned in 36th District Court Thursday and remanded to jail, prosecutors said. His probable cause conference is on Dec. 3 and his preliminary examination is on Dec. 10.
