Description
This is a 5-week photography class focusing on the fundamentals. We meet in-person at my studio in North Wales, PA In my years as a photography teacher, I have met hundreds of people who have purchased a good camera, then found themselves frustrated or confused when it comes to learning the various controls. The goal for this class is to de-mystify the basic camera controls, and help everyone to enjoy their camera, and to ignite creativity for everyone! Whether you are looking to take better photos of your kids, pets or family, or if you want to pursue a different genre (street, astral, macro, birds/wildlife etc.), the fundamentals are all the same. This class will focus on those fundamentals such as: ApertureDepth of FieldShutter SpeedISOFocus systemsFocal length/lens choiceQuality of light (hard vs. soft)Basics of using a speed light or flashGenre-specific tips or suggestions depending on the interests of the people in the class.Meeting dates: February 20 February 27 March 13 March 20 March 27 (note: we'll be skipping March 6, I will be out of town that weekend). Meeting time: 12:00 noon (class is intended to about 60 minutes, but we'll undoubtedly end up running over) Basic photography settings are consistent across ALL types of camera. The same rules apply for digital cameras as applies to film, cell phone cameras, or any other type of camera. My presentations and discussions will be focused on digital cameras, but you are more than welcome to bring a different type of camera, and apply the concepts. I would strongly recommend that your camera (or the app you use on your phone) have the ability to change aperture, shutter speed and ISO. One of our classes will also focus on choosing lenses. This will obviously be more helpful for folks with interchangeable lens cameras (either a mirrorless or a DSLR). If anyone is interested in learning photography, but you don't already have a camera, I'd be more than happy to help you pick out a first camera, before we get started! Feel free to email me with your photography goals and a ballpark idea of your budget, and I can help with some suggestions and ideas for what cameras might be a good fit! Mark is a wedding, portrait and performing arts photographer based outside of Philadelphia, PA. The annual Fall Portrait Mini Sessions began in 2014, and traditionally the event sells out very quickly!
