METRO DETROIT — Michigan State Police officials said the department handled more than 100 traffic crashes in the Metro Detroit region in the past 24 hours.
The exact number — 103, according to the department — was inflated due to the snowy weather in the area, but did not include simple slide-offs and other calls, officials said.
A very busy 24 hours for troopers in the district. They handled 103 traffic crashes and four impaired drivers. And this doesn't include all the slide offs and other calls for services in our townships. The area was hit with moderate snow fall through the afternoon after receiving much of the same beginning in Wednesday's early morning hours. The accumulated snow led to some slippery roads.
More snow fell throughout the area in the evening, causing visibility issues and slick roads, according to the agency.
Detroiters can expect more of the same today, with lingering flurries and light accumulation around shoreline areas, according to the National Weather Service.
