FRANKLIN, WI — The 152,000 square foot Strauss Brands slaughterhouse facility that was proposed for Franklin will be headed back up for a vote in February after the city was court-ordered to review the project again, according to a report by The Milwaukee Business Journal.
The proposal was approved by the city in 2020, but a lawsuit filed by local group Franklin Community Advocates knocked the development back for a "do-over" vote, according to the Business Journal's report.
A Franklin Plan Commission hearing on Feb. 17 is set to begin the process of reviewing the development again, according to the report. If it moves forward, the facility could have as many as 271 workers processing over 250 cattle per day.
The facility was proposed for a plot of land near Loomis Road and Monarch Drive.
