Press release from the City of Spokane: 2022-02-07 Stabbing in Downtown Spokane sends one to the hospital with life threatening injuries On 02/04/2022 just after 2300 hours 911 received a phone call from residents of an apartment complex located in the 200 block of W 2nd Ave in Downtown Spokane. Initial information was two males were in an argument at the location. At approximately 2315 hours 911 received multiple other calls from the same location stating the argument had escalated and one male had been stabbed. Officers arrived on scene within minutes and located the male suspect and safely detained him without incident. Other officers on scene located the male victim in his vehicle suffering from life threatening stab wounds. Those officers began immediate life saving measures until Spokane Fire personnel arrived on scene and took over care. The victim was taken to a local hospital. The male suspect, later identified as 27 year old James Speelman, was placed under arrest and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Assault 1st Degree.
