While Thanksgiving Day feasts are likely to be a little smaller this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, that doesn't mean we're less likely to forget the cranberry sauce, the gravy or the whipped topping for the pumpkin pie. It's a terrible feeling — but, luckily, there's a list of grocery stores that will be open in Metro Detroit for those emergency and last-minute shopping trips. In contrast to previous years, retail giants Target and Walmart will not be open on Thanksgiving. Both chains made the decision in response to the coronavirus pandemic. In a statement released on its website, Target said the company's goal is to "make the holiday shopping experience simple, safe, and stress-free." Here are the hours for grocery stores that will be open on Thanksgiving Day, along with a list of those that won't: Kroger: Most stores are open 24 hours. Some stores will open from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rite Aid: The majority of stores will be open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Call ahead to confirm hours. Walgreen's: Most locations will be open regular hours but most pharmacies will be closed. Whole Foods: Hours vary by location. Many stores open at 7 a.m. and close as early as 2 p.m. Closed Thanksgiving Day: Aldi BJ's Wholesale Club Costco Lidl MOMs My Organic Market Publix Sam's Club Target Trader Joe's Walmart
