NORWICH, CT — District officials have begun an administrative take-over of the Teachers' Memorial Global Studies Magnet Middle School in Norwich to crack down on student behavior issues, according to The New London Day. Superintendent Kristen Stringfellow sent a three-page letter to parents and staff over the weekend outlining the wide-ranging changes, including a ban on cell phone use during school, reinstatement of after-school detentions, and in-school and out-of-school suspensions. Since Aug. 30, police have been called to the school 50 times for service and made two student arrests. Stringfellow presented a plan to the Board of Education last week to reinstate school resource officers at Global Studies and Kelly STEAM Magnet Middle School.
