Your Arlington Created: 06 February 2022 Written by Bob Sprague Issues involved in a proposed adult-use marijuana store, the second in town, will be the subject of a community meeting set for 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 17, in person, at the Knights of Columbus 109, 15 Winslow St., across from Winslow Towers. Calyx Peak of MA Inc. has scheduled the community outreach meeting to "we share our plans for a proposed marijuana establishment," a notice neighbors says. The proposed adult-use marijuana retailer plans to situate a store at 251 Summer St., site of a former gas and service station. On Jan. 10, the Select Board unanimously agreed to grant a host community agreement to Calyx Peak. A community meeting is among the many remaining steps the company faces before opening. "In this meeting, we will discuss security, diversion prevention, community involvement and planning, and general operation of the proposed facility," the notice to neighbors says. "There will be an opportunity for the public to ask questions." The community notice does not mention the town's mask mandate or whether proof of vaccination must be shown. YourArlington is seeking comment. Calyx Peak CEO Erin Carachilo told the Select Board on Jan. 10 that her company will work with local architects to produce a refreshed space with more greenery, along with a clean and inviting indoor atmosphere. Calyx Peak Security Adviser Dan Linskey will work with Arlington's Police Department to make sure all employees and customers are safe, the board was told Linskey served as a police officer in Boston for 20 years, and was later Boston superintendent of police. In October 2020, the Select Board turned down a Calyx Peak application, but the company returned the following January. The town's first recreational-marijuana store, Apothca, opened in the Heights in 2020. In June 2019, Apothca, which had originally opened a medical-marijuana store on Water Street in 2018, held a community hearing, a step required by state law governing such establishments.
