GREENWICH, CT — A police officer suffered minor injuries and two New York City men were arrested on Sunday after police responded to a report of a theft at a Greenwich Avenue business. At 4 p.m. on Feb. 6, a Greenwich police officer who was working an extra-duty side job on Greenwich Avenue was notified that a "possible theft was occurring in a local retailer," police said in a Facebook post. Capt. Mark Zuccerella of the Greenwich Police Department told Patch the incident occurred near the Elm Street intersection. The officer saw a man, later identified as Emeil Osborne, 21, of Brooklyn, N.Y., enter a nearby car. When the officer approached, a struggle ensued and Osborne got away, police said. The officer, whose identity isn't being released, noticed the car Osborne was trying to get into was rolling down Greenwich Avenue. The officer tried to stop it, but he was knocked to the ground and suffered minor injuries. The car then hit a parked car on the Avenue, police said. Osborne was found close by and taken into custody. Police said he was charged with interfering with an officer, breach of peace and reckless endangerment. Police believed another man, identified as Dwayne McGregor, 40, also of Brooklyn, N.Y., was working with Osborne. He was arrested Sunday and charged with third-degree larceny and conspiracy, according to police. Both men are scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 22.
