DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA — The Douglas County School System is offering meals to students through the closures caused by concerns of the new coronavirus.
Beginning March 18, children ages 0 to 18 are eligible for free meals at several Douglas County sites:
Alexander High SchoolChapel Hill High SchoolDouglas County High SchoolLithia Springs High SchoolNew Manchester High SchoolEach location will provide a drive up service on Wednesday for 100 children from 9 a.m. to noon. It will go on every Wednesday, until school resumes, with services increasing based on the needs of the community.
Kids will get a five-day supply of breakfast and lunch.

Executive Director of School Nutrition Danielle Freeman said the nutrition department is always looking for new ways to feed and support the kids. "This meal service is another way to help children in need. It is our role and our responsibility to be there for the students in our community," Freeman said.
The meal service is available to kids regardless of their school or place of residence. Children must be in the car to receive the meals.
Parents and kids must stay in the car in front of the entrance of the school for the meal service. Visitors to new Manchester High School must enter through the back Cafe entrance.
