Snow Days Or Virtual? Take Harford County Public Schools Survey

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Instead of taking snow days that could keep children in classes more days in June, the Maryland State Department of Education is offering school districts the option of shifting to virtual learning. To determine what Harford County parents would prefer, officials with Harford County Public Schools are conducting a survey on the matter. Four hours of synchronous instruction would be required for students during inclement weather days, if they are learning virtually, according to authorities. Synchronous instruction is live and interactive, officials said. Students who miss work during virtual inclement weather days would be able to make it up. Responses to the survey will be collected until 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 17. "We value your input. HCPS wants to know from you if you prefer inclement weather days to be school system closures (to be made up at the end of the school year in June) as they are now, or if you prefer we implement virtual instruction days in the future," Harford County Public Schools said in a statement.
