Description

The Mile High Community Band (MHCB) Jazz Band is an adult (high school students welcome) community band of 25 musicians that rehearses mostly in Denver and performs primarily in Jefferson County, Colorado. Our musicians are young and old, from intermediate to advanced avocational and players with degrees in music performance. The MHCB jazz band is a big band with a focus on styles and composers that are considered foundational in big band repertoire. The primary focus is on Swing, Latin jazz, Fusion, and Funk. Music is selected by composers such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones and Buddy Rich. We rehearse weekly and perform 3 to 6 concerts throughout the year. Our next concert is planned for a Thursday in April 2022. We are currently looking for a set drummer as well as trumpet players. We are rebuilding after effects of the pandemic. Rehearsals are weekly on Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 7:10 pm. We rehearse in the instrumental music room at North High School in Denver. Contact us for directions and confirmation of our rehearsals. Our band board of directors highly recommends using bell covers, and wearing a mask when not playing your instrument. We are not requiring COVID 19 vaccination, but survey results show that 80% or our members are vaccinated. You may check out the band for two rehearsals without paying dues. For the longer term, membership in the Band costs $35 per month ($25 per month for students). Don’t let cost stand in your way because scholarships are available. For the same cost, you may also be able to play with our Jazz Combo, from 7:15 to 8:30 pm on the same night and in the same location. Check out our website at www.milehighcommunityband.net. Please contact us and we'll get back with you in 24-48 hours Let us hear from you soon.
