Surveillance Video Sought For Alameda Carjacking, Shooting

ALAMEDA, CA —The Alameda Police Department is is asking people with surveillance cameras on their homes or businesses to check them for evidence in a shooting and carjacking case. The crime happened on Thursday of last week. A Police department employee was flagged down at 3:15 p.m. near the intersection of Grand Street and Clement Avenue by a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim told officers that he had been robbed and carjacked before being shot while attempting to run away. The suspect was last seen driving eastbound on Clement Avenue in a 2001 red Honda Accord Coupe with damage to the right front bumper. Oakland Police found the car and took a suspect into custody for an unrelated crime. As Alameda Police work with the District Attorney's Office on a possible prosecution, they need more evidence. The investigating officer is asking businesses and residents along potential escape path to check their surveillance systems between 3:15 and 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 22.
